Overview

Do you need tools to create your own DAISY books? Well the free Save-As DAISY add-in from Microsoft is a great tool to use to make your own DAISY book with the information you choose. It works with the following versions of Word: XP, 2003, or 2007. By following the step-by-step instructions below, the Save-As DAISY add-in for Microsoft Word can be downloaded along with additional plugins from Design Science for MathML support.

Note: The instructions on this page are written specifically for Microsoft Office 2003. Other version of Microsoft Office support this plugin, but their actual installation may be slightly different.

Installing Save-As-DAISY

1. Download the Save-As-DAISY installation package from the Save-As-DAISY page.
2. Unzip the downloaded file ("DaisyTranslator_WordAddin_24March2009.zip") by right-clicking and selecting "Extract All".
3. In the folder created by unzipping ("DaisyTranslator_WordAddin_24March2009", by default), run the program "DaisyAddinForWordSetup.exe"
4. Follow all prompts in the installation program.
   • Note: This installation can take a very long time.
5. Delete the zip file ("DaisyTranslator_WordAddin_24March2009.zip") and the extracted folder ("DaisyTranslator_WordAddin_24March2009").

Installing Additional Items

The Microsoft Save-As-DAISY plugin has additional features that are not part of the standard install. In particular, MathML support for the Save-As-DAISY plugin is supplied by these additional items.

Design Science MathType

1. Go to the Design Science MathType Demo download page and download the MathType installer. (Note: The linked file is for the English version, for other languages, please select on of the other installers.)
2. Run the MathType installer ("MTW6.5c.exe") and follow all prompts in the installation process.
3. Delete the MathType installer ("MTW6.5c.exe").cessibility.c

Design Science MathDaisy

1. Go to the Design Science MathDaisy Demo download page and download the MathDaisy installer.
2. Run the MathDaisy installer ("MathDaisy10_install.exe") and follow all prompts in the installation process.
3. Delete the MathDaisy installer ("MathDaisy10_install.exe").

Design Science MathPlayer

1. Go to the Design Science MathPlayer download page and download the MathPlayer installer.
2. Run the MathPlayer installer ("MathPlayerSetup.exe") and follow all prompts in the installation process.
3. Delete the MathPlayer installer ("MathPlayerSetup.exe").
